Camas County is named after a regional lily-like plant eaten by Native Americans and early settlers. This is the second least populated county in Idaho and features wide open horizons, acreage properties, a mild climate, and natural hot springs. The local Soldier Mountain Ski Area was established in 1948 and draws people who desire a smaller, more intimate trip to the mountains. Soldier Mountain has 36 runs and a vertical drop of just over 1400 feet. This is where you’ll find deep powder, pine trees, and the only cat skiing operation in central Idaho. As for real estate, you can find very affordable acreage in Camas County. While values have increased 50% year over date, the average home in Camas County is still far below $500,000, making this a very affordable place to buy land and build your forever home.
